Housing

As a Freshman College participant you will have a distinct advantage over other new freshmen who will start UGA the following fall semester. Your Freshman College room assignment in Russell Hall will remain your room assignment for the duration of the academic year. At the completion of the program on July 30th, you may leave your personal belongings in your room. You will not have to move in again. When all the other new incoming students check into the halls at the beginning of fall semester you will already be moved in and settled into your residence hall!

Housing Registration
All entering UGA students must register for on-campus housing at http://www.uga.edu/housing. As a Freshman College participant, you will be required to separately register for both the Freshman College 2010 and Fall Semester 2010. The housing website defaults to Fall 2010, so please proceed and register for fall semester first. The University offers several summer sessions each year so it is critical that you register for the correct term dedicated specifically for Freshmen College. When you register, be sure to choose the” FCSE option” for Summer 2010. The housing fee for Freshman College 2010 is included in your program fee. There is no additional housing registration fee for Summer 2010.

When registering for housing for Freshman College you must indicate that Russell Hall is your first building preference for both summer and fall semesters. Students who participate in the Freshman College are not eligible to register for other academic communities (i.e. Honors Program in Myers Hall, Creswell Learning Communities, etc.). If you wish to make a room change after being assigned, you must wait until the room change process begins for fall semester. All room change information is available on the Department of University Housing website (http://www.uga.edu/housing).

Roommates
Are you looking for a roommate for next year? If so, you can visit The Dawg House! The Dawg House is a roommate matching program available to UGA students. The program will assist you in connecting with other incoming residents who have yet to determine a roommate preference. To access The Dawg House, go to http://www.uga.edu/housing and click on “Registration and Contracts.” Once you find a roommate, both you and your preferred roommate must modify your preferences on the Housing registration website. Please Note: All FCSE roommate preferences must be completed and updated by midnight on Sunday, May 10, 2010, for assignment consideration! Should you wish to make a roommate request you must ensure that your preferred roommate is also a Freshman College participant and mutually requests you as a roommate. Housing assignments made for Freshman College 2010 will be in effect for the duration of the upcoming academic year. Any request for a roommate that is not a participant in the Freshman College will not be honored.

Notification
Room and roommate assignments will be available in June and housing contracts will be available in mid-June. Information will be sent to you via your UGA email account with more specific information related to your Housing assignment. Please remember that you must activate two housing contracts – one for Freshman College 2010 and one for the 2010-2011 academic year.
