Classes
Freshman College students are required to register for six semester hours from a specific list of offered courses. Three semester hours will come from our core curriculum (see list below) and the remaining three hours will come from either UNIV 1102 (Learning to Learn: 3 hours) or a combination of UNIV 1113 (University Success for Freshman: 2 hours) and FRES 1020 (Freshman Book Seminar: 1 hour). All Freshman College courses provide academic credit toward graduation. By applying for and participating in the Freshman College you are responsible for completing all of the courses for which you register. This will require a dedicated time commitment on your part as the classroom requirements will be demanding. To assist you in your academic pursuits tutoring, study groups, and academic workshops will be available throughout the program.

Important Academic Details
  • A normal semester lasts approximately 15 weeks during the academic year. Freshman College courses cover the same amount of material in only 4 weeks. One day of class during Freshman College is the equivalent of one week of class during a regular semester. The coursework is designed to be challenging!
  • You will attend class for 4 ˝ hours a day, Monday through Friday. Morning classes are held from 9:15 AM to 11:30 AM and afternoon classes are held from 1:00 PM to 3:15 PM.
  • Registration for your Freshman College courses occurs during the UGA First-Year Orientation. This year’s Orientation session is scheduled for June 30 – July 1, 2008
